Flexible fabric display technology makes shirts instantly turn into screens

Can you imagine sending and receiving messages, navigating maps, and browsing information on the clothes you wear? Such science fiction scenes have been realized by Chinese scientists. The scientific research team of Fudan University has invented a new fully flexible fabric display system. This world leading achievement was published in the main journal of the international authoritative journal Nature on March 11th.

This is an ordinary school uniform, and the school emblem pattern can be lit after being powered on. The secret is that these thinnest threads with a diameter of less than half a millimeter can be woven into different clothes and form a special fabric display system that transforms shirts into electronic screens. This super soft display technology, like clothes, is the result of more than 10 years of intensive research by the teams of Peng Huisheng and Chen Peining from Fudan University, and has been promoted in some areas of daily life.

From stabilizing light emission to building a fabric display system, Peng Huisheng's team has developed two different functional fibers. In fabric weaving, the two fibers act as warp and weft lines, forming a light emitting unit at each intersection, similar to the pixel dots of a computer display, thereby forming a dynamic display effect. Equally magical is that it can be washed hundreds of times without degrading its performance.
